      "verbatimText": "The Austin Community College District Police Department (ACC PD) placed Eastview Campus on Secure Lockdown around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, following reports of gunfire about 1/2 mile from the campus.\n\nThe Secure protocol directs everyone to get inside and lock exterior doors to prevent potential threats from entering the building while maintaining a safe environment inside. This means officers lock all perimeter doors on campus from the outside to ensure access is only granted with an authorized ACC employee or student badge.\n\nAt the time of the incident, there was one class in session on the campus. Out of an abundance of caution, ACC Police also dispatched additional officers to Eastview Campus to provide enhanced security and conduct a search of all buildings.\n\nThe Austin Police Department cleared the call at approximately 3:30 p.m., and the Secure Lockdown was lifted.\n\nAccording to police, no suspicious activity or individual was found. ACC Police maintained an increased presence on campus throughout the afternoon to provide ongoing monitoring and support.\n\nSince the situation did not directly involve the campus and exhibited no direct threat to the campus community, an emergency alert was not issued.\n\nIn the event of an active threat, the College would issue an Emergency Alert.
