      "verbatimText": "The Brown University Department of Public Safety provides this notice in compliance with the Timely Notice provision of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.\n\n\n\nIncident\n\nOn Thursday, August 3, 2023, the Brown University Department of Public Safety was notified of a sexual assault that happened on Waterman Street near the Hope Street intersection. A Brown University community member reported walking east on Waterman Street at approximately 12:30 PM on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 when they were approached from behind and felt someone touching them. The suspect followed the community member for two blocks before leaving the area.\n\nThis matter is under investigation by the Providence Police Department. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact the Providence Police Department at 401-272-3121 or the Brown University Department of Public Safety at 401-863-3322.\n\nThe Brown University campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep yourself and others safe:\n\n\n\n• Be aware of your surroundings\n\n• Please travel on well-lit streets and throughways\n\n• Report suspicious behavior, even when you are not directly threatened\n\n• If you feel unsafe in any situation, trust your instincts and call Brown DPS at 401-863-3322 or the Providence Police at 401-272-3121\n\n\n\nPlease review the Brown DPS web page for additional safety awareness information and resources.\n\n\n\nLocation\n\nWaterman and Hope Streets",
