      "verbatimText": "Clemson University police received reports Saturday morning of multiple vehicle break-ins in the R-1 parking lot near Kite Hill.\n\nSomeone smashed windows or cut soft tops on several vehicles to gain entry. The break-ins occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning.\n\nPolice are investigating. If you park your car in that lot, you should check to be sure nothing is missing. If you see any suspicious behavior, call 911 or 864-656-2222.\n\nPolice offer these tips to help prevent break-ins:\n\n- Secure all valuables in the trunk of your car or remove them from your car.\n- Always lock your vehicle so entry to the trunk cannot be made from the inside.\n- Park in a well-lighted area.\n- Park in lots more frequently used by others.\n- Look in your vehicle once you get inside.\n- Have your keys in your hand before you get to your vehicle.\n- Car-pool if you can; have a friend, parent or relative drop you off on campus.\n- Report all suspicious persons or activity to the Clemson University Police immediately at 911, 864-656-2222 or from a blue-light emergency telephone.\n- Be alert, be aware, do not be a victim.\n\nSign up to receive CU Safe Alert text messages on your mobile device.\n\nDownload the CU Guardian app for your phone. It has multiple features, including a GPS-based emergency call CUPD button, an anonymous crime-reporting tool and a safety timer that alerts your guardians if you do not arrive at a location and time you entered in the app.",
