      "verbatimText": "Clemson University police are assisting other local agencies after a student reported being assaulted after arranging a meeting with an unknown individual they met on a social media website. The student left campus with the individual Monday evening and later was sexually assaulted.\n\nPlease take the following precautions:\n\n- Do not give out information or make appointments with strangers over the phone or social media applications.\n\n- Do not admit strangers to your residence or vehicle. If someone you don’t expect approaches your door, make sure you know them before opening the door.\n\n- When meeting new acquaintances, meet in well-lit and public areas and/or in a group setting.\n\n- Make others earn your trust. A college environment can foster a false sense of security. They may feel like fast friends, but give people time earn your trust before relying on them.\n\nIf you are the victim of a sexual assault:\n\n- Try to stay calm and remain alert. Look for situations that you can exploit to your advantage.\n\n- Note the characteristics of your assailant and try to talk your way out of an assault or identify a means of escape. Information you recall about your attacker is invaluable to the police in trying to apprehend the criminal.\n\n- Call 911 or, if you are on campus, notify university police at 864-656-2222 as soon as possible.",
