      "verbatimText": "Due to hazardous conditions caused by winter weather, Clemson University’s main campus will be closed and no classes, including E-learning, will be held on Monday, Jan. 26, following the announcement of Pickens County government offices closing.\n\nNo events will be held on campus, and due to road hazards, no employees (unless directly requested by their supervisor for essential services) should travel to campus.\n\nStatus for Tuesday’s class and operations will be announced as soon as available.\n\nAdditional Updates\n\n• Main campus Libraries, Campus Recreation facilities and Redfern Health Center will be closed on Monday.\n\n• Dining Services will have adjusted hours.\n\n• CATbus and transit updates can be found in the Tigers Commute app or on the Parking and Transportation Services website.\n\n• Additional updates or impacts to campus will be provided by Public Safety or University Facilities.\n\n• Continue to monitor your email and official University social media accounts for updates.\n\nWhat to Know for University Employees\n\n• Employees should not report to work on main campus, unless they have been deemed “essential” for this weather event and their supervisor has informed them that they must report to work in-person.\n\n• State directives specify all other employees are expected to work remotely to the fullest extent possible, even if they do not regularly work remotely or have a remote work agreement.\n\n• Employees and supervisors should stay in close communication throughout the event.\n\n• All employees should review and follow the timekeeping instructions available in the “What To Do in the Case of Hazardous Weather” section on the Work during Hazardous Weather webpage.\n\nStatewide Clemson locations\n\nStatewide Clemson locations should follow the same closure decisions made by the county government where their office is located, with the exception of Richland and Lexington counties. Employees deemed essential should communicate with their supervisors to determine if they are required to work on-site, if they have not already done so. Those who cannot safely travel should discuss flexible scheduling options with their supervisor.\n\nNonessential employees should use, to the maximum extent possible, telecommuting or work-from-home options. Note this applies to all University employees, even if the employee does not typically telecommute. Exercise caution while driving to campus, allow extra time and slow down on your commute. Be alert for possible icy conditions on roads, bridges, sidewalks and parking lots.\n\nInstructors and supervisors are asked to provide leniency and grace to students and employees who may have trouble accessing campus due to hazardous conditions that may impact their commute and public transportation options.\n\nStudents, faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to prioritize their personal safety and avoid travel if conditions feel unsafe. Those with concerns about traveling to campus should reach out to their supervisor or instructor to discuss appropriate accommodations. Supervisors can provide work-from-home or flexible scheduling options to their employees, as appropriate.\n\nAdditionally, as temperatures climb above freezing, be aware of falling ice and snow when entering and exiting buildings. As you make your way around campus, exercise caution, especially in shady areas where ice remains, and avoid activities that could result in injury.\n\nParking and Transportation Update\n\n• Ice remains in some on-campus parking lots, particularly in shady areas.
