      "verbatimText": "Clery Act Safety Alert\nOn January 18, 2020, a female student residing at Perry Residence Hall reported being awakened by a male at the foot of her bed. When confronted, the male ran from the room. The student reported that her room was not locked. During the investigation of this incident, additional students in Perry Residence Hall reported being awakened by a male in their unsecured rooms. The male has been identified as a student residing in the same housing area and has been placed under arrest. Housing and Residence Life is working closely with the Georgia Tech Police Department on this investigation and would like to remind you of the following safety tips;\n•\n•\n•\n• Lock your doors and carry your keys and Buzzcard whenever you are away from your room. Students should do this even if they are only going next door. Lock your door if you are sleeping and/or completing a task that takes your attention away from your surroundings. Do not prop open any exterior doors, or allow them to be propped open. Do not allow people to walk in behind you when you enter your building. There will be increased visibility of public safety officers in and around the residence halls. Report suspicious activity immediately to the Georgia Tech Police Department at 404-894-2500.\nClery Act Requirements Federal law, the Clery Act, requires colleges and universities to report certain crime statistics as well as to make timely notifications about crimes that pose a threat to the community.
