"verbatimText": "An informed community is a safer community The unidentified suspect pictured below stole a mountain bike belonging to a student near The Rivers dorm area. If the suspect is seen on campus, please contact GCU Police at 602-639-8100. In order to provide the campus community with information that may aid in the prevention of criminal activity, the Grand Canyon University Public Safety Department is providing the following tips: Prevention Information: 1. Always use a U-lock. Cable type locks can easily be cut through with cable-cutters or a saw. 2. Lock your wheel and frame together. 3. Use a bike rack (sign and fence poles are not as secure). 5. Lock your bike in a well-lit and well-traveled area. 6. Take lights and other easily removed accessories with you. 7. Write down your serial number. It's also very helpful to have a picture of your bicycle and, if possible, the original sales receipt. This will aid in the return of your bicycle when it is recovered by police. To report a crime or suspicious activity, contact the Public Safety Department by telephone at 602 639 8100; in person at The Grove Parking Garage; or if you wish, anonymously through the “TIPS” system at https://www.gcu.edu/about-gcu/offices-services/public-safety.php",
