      "verbatimText": "The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is actively investigating an Armed Carjacking that occurred this morning at approximately 3:07 a.m. in the 2300 Block of 8th ST, NW.\n\nThe male complainant is not affiliated with Howard University. The vehicle is a black 2014 Nissan Maxima bearing MD license plate # BLSDKNJ with chrome rims. The following lookout was provided for two suspects. One suspect is a black male, dark complexion wearing all black attire while armed with a handgun. The second suspect is a black male, light brown complexion wearing a red hoodie. No further description or lookout was provided.\n\nIf you have information about this shooting incident, please contact the Department of Public Safety (DPS) at 202-806-1100, or call 911 to reach MPD.\n\nThe Howard University Department of Public Safety notifies the University community when crimes are reported which present a continuing threat to the students, faculty or staff, in a manner consistent with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.\n\nGeneral Safety Tips:\n• Avoid isolated and dark areas.\n• If you are approached, take note of the person’s appearance, clothing, and anything that will help to identify the subject.\n• Immediately report any suspicious activity or suspicious individuals to the HU Police Department at 202-806-1100, and program this number into your cell phone for quick access.",
