      "verbatimText": "Earlier today, Campus Safety/Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) received a notification that when cleaning, a small amount of mercury was discovered in a room on the first floor of the C-Wing of Iacocca Hall, a wing largely occupied by a sciences department. \n\nFacilities personnel responded immediately to the report and are following all recommended best practices regarding remediation. An outside company has been contracted to perform the remediation and air quality testing. As a precautionary measure, a broad area has been isolated within the building until air quality testing is performed. EH&S sent a message to all occupants of the building indicating that floors 1, 2, and 3 of the C-Wing are closed until further notice. \n\nAll labs in that area have been canceled for the day, and all other members of the campus community should avoid the clear signage/caution-taped area until further notice while the remediation work is complete.",
