      "verbatimText": "An office located on the third floor in Building E18, which is located at 50 Ames Street, was burglarized sometime between July 27, 2018 and July 30, 2018.\n\nThere is no suspect description at this time.\n\nAn employee reported that he left his locked office on July 27th at 5:30 PM and when he returned on July 30th at 8:30 AM he noticed that 4 laptop computers were missing from a locked room within the office. A key to the room where the laptops were stored was taken from a filing cabinet that appeared to have been pried open. The key used to gain access to the locked room was found left in the door (key slot).\n\nSuggestions: While victims of crime are never to blame for criminal activity, there are some precautions that can be taken. In order to protect yourself and your belongings from theft and/or facilitate the recovery of your stolen property, MIT Police encourage you to follow these tips:\n\n\t- See Something - Say Something: Immediately notify the MIT Police at 617-253-1212 or 100 from any campus phone if you believe a crime is occurring, has occurred, or is about to occur.\n\n\t- Take valuables with you if you leave for an extended period of time or take additional safety measures to secure items.\n\n\t- Keep doors and windows locked. Assure that the locks are in good working order.\n\n\t- Report all tailgaters, report suspicious people/activity.\n\n\t- Document serial numbers of your electronics and take pictures of your valuables. Keep this in a safe place to provide to the police in the event you are burglarized.\n\n\t- Register your laptop computer. Laptop tagging is now free for the MIT community, and is offered at the IS&T Service Desk in E17-106.\n\n\tThe MIT Police want to remind the MIT community that we are located in an urban setting and share many of the crime and safety issues that exist in any city.\n\n\tThe MIT Police are investigating this crime and request the assistance from the MIT community.
