      "verbatimText": "The MIT Police Department was notified by the Cambridge Police Department on April 18, 2018 of a robbery which occurred on Monday, April 16, 2018 at approximately 7:30 p.m.\n\n\tThe victim was walking on Landsdowne Street, heading towards Massachusetts Ave. As the victim came to the intersection at Green Street, he was suddenly approached by three individuals who became aggressive towards him and began shouting \"rude things\" at him. The victim was then punched on the side of the head, knocking him to the ground. While on the ground, they began to kick him and stole his key, bank card, and MBTA pass. These items were later recovered a short distance away and returned to the victim. The victim was treated for his injuries. The victim is not affiliated with MIT.\n\nThe victim described the three suspects as: Male, black, young.\n\nThis assault and robbery is being investigated by the Cambridge Police Department. Anyone with any information is asked to call 617-349-3300.\n\n\tRisk Reduction/Safety Precautions:\n\n-\n Program your cell phone with the MIT Police emergency number (617-253-1212). Call this number if you become uncomfortable in any situation. We are ready to respond to your calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All 911 phone calls from cell phones go to the MA State Police in Framingham, Massachusetts, who then transfer the calls to the Cambridge Police. You can also call 100 from any campus phone.\n\n-\n If you feel threatened on campus and do not have access to a phone, look for a Blue Light emergency telephone. They will connect directly with the MIT Police. Utilize them in case of an emergency.\n\n-\n Be aware of your surroundings (know where you are and what is going on around you).\n\n-\n If you are approached by someone displaying a weapon or demanding your property, it is recommended that you comply with the request and not resist.\n\n\tThe MIT Police want to remind the MIT community that we are located in an urban setting and share many of the crime and safety issues that exist in any city.
