The purpose\n is to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from\n becoming the victim of a similar crime.\n\n Montana State University received two reports of sexual assault at the Pi Kappa Alpha\n Fraternity on Friday, September 22nd, 2023. Other than the location, these two incidents appear unrelated and do not involve\n any of the same individuals.\n\n Montana State University’s top priority is the safety and wellbeing of all members\n of the campus community, and we encourage you to consider the following:\n\n \n • Rape and sexual assault are never the fault of the survivor. Responsibility lies with\n the perpetrator. No one deserves, asks for, or provokes sexual assault.\n\n • The most common type of sexual assault occurs between individuals known to one another.\n Sexual assault occurs in all communities and people of all genders can be survivors.\n\n • Sexual assault is any sexual activity that occurs in the absence of consent. If you\n engage in sex, be sure you understand your partner’s limits, and communicate your\n own limits. Do not engage in sexual activities without affirmative consent from your\n partner(s). Affirmative consent occurs by continual, enthusiastic “yes” by all partners\n engaging in sexual activity.\n\n • If you do not feel comfortable intervening in any situation, notify someone who can.\n\n • Never take an open drink from someone you do not know.\n\n • When you go out, ensure that someone you trust knows where you are, and watch over\n your friends if you go out in a group.\n\n • If you consume alcohol, do so responsibly and know your limits\n\n • The MSU VOICE Center offers resources and advocacy for survivors of sexual assault,\n relationship violence, and stalking.
