      "verbatimText": "We are sharing the below information on behalf of the Columbus Division of Police regarding a crime that occurred in the off-campus area.\nOn 8/7/2021, at approximately 2:30 a.m., three Ohio State police officers were on patrol near the Ohio Union garages when they heard gunshots fired across the street. The officers then witnessed a crowd that was gathered near High Street and 13th Avenue begin to run in different directions. Officers responded to search for the suspect and located one victim. The victim had been shot and was transported to the Wexner Medical Center. He is not affiliated with Ohio State, meaning not a student, faculty or staff member. No other injuries were reported.\nSuspect details are limited. Police believe the crime was perpetrated by one man who fled east on 13th Avenue after firing a handgun at the victim following an altercation outside a nearby business. Since this crime occurred off campus, anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to call the Columbus Division of Police at 614-645-4545.\nCrimes are never the fault of the victim.",
