PCC Police met with the victim and were able to identify the suspect nearby and place him under arrest. The suspect was unaffiliated with the college. There has been an increase in random acts of violence in our broader community. Some of this violence stems from individuals with substance abuse issues, mental illness or the challenges of being unhoused. These random acts can occur anywhere.\n\nTips for awareness and prevention:\nBe aware of your surroundings and individuals in your immediate area. Look for behaviors that are disruptive or that may threaten your safety. If you are alone, sit so that you can see your surroundings and have a solid backdrop behind you. Glance up frequently to be aware of who is near you. Identify individuals of concern early so that you have time to adjust your location or direction of travel. Report individuals of concern on campus to college police at (520) 206-2700, so that we can determine the safety of that person for the community and the individual themselves.",
