      "verbatimText": "For the protection and safety of SU students, faculty, staff and neighbors, the Department of Public Safety releases the following alert:\n\nOFF CAMPUS STRONG-ARM ROBBERY (Date Issued: September 18, 2016 SPD Case # 16-463374)\n\nSunday, September 18, 2016 at approximately 8:57 p.m. - 500 block Stratford Street.\n\nAn alumni reported a strong arm robbery that occurred off campus. The alumni reported she was walking in the 500 block of Stratford Street. when she was approached by three unknown males who exited a vehicle and approached her. The suspects used physical force to forcibly steal the alumni's purse. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. The alumni sustained no injuries and\n\nrefused medical attention. There was no threat of a weapon. DPS asks your help in identifying the suspects if you were in the vicinity at the time of the incident. Call 443-SAFE (7233) for more information about these services.\n\n• Take advantage of the CENTRO and Birnie Bus services. Taxi services are also available.\n\n• Walk, bike or jog in groups of three or more, away from bushes, cars, and other objects a suspect could hide behind.\n\n• Plan your walking travel times by avoiding late to early morning hours.\n\n• Be aware of your surroundings: look and listen. Headphones and cell phones can create tunnel vision.\n\n• Travel in well-lit and populated areas. Keep porch lights on at night.\n\n• Download the LiveSafe app on your Android or iOS smart phone. The app provides a virtual escort feature you can use with friends and quick links to important public safety information. Set the app to Syracuse University and sign up with your syr.edu email address!\n\n• Don't approach strangers or let them get close to you.\n\n• If you think someone is following you, switch directions or cross the street. Go toward an open business or lighted house.\n\n• Have your house or car keys in hand before you reach your door.\n\n• Know where campus blue light alarms are and how to use them.\n\n• If someone tries to rob you, don't resist.       "verbatimText": "SPD Case # 16-464230, DPS Case # 16-464294 (September 21, 2016)\n\nAs an update to the Off Campus Strong-Arm robbery Public Safety Notice issues on September 18th (SPD Case # 16-463374 ), The Department of Public Safety issues this update, as a second incident was subsequently reported as occurring in the same area two block away and several hours earlier on the same date.\n\nSunday, September 18, 2016 at approximately 3:30 am. - 300 block Stratford Ave.\n\nOn Monday, September 19, 2016 the DPS received a delayed report from a student regarding a robbery that occurred off campus. The student reports he was walking westbound in the 300 block of Stratford Ave, which is in the vicinity of the previously reported incident on Stratford Ave. The student states he was approached by three unknown males. The student turned over personal property during the robbery. The student reports one of the suspects displayed what appeared to be a firearm. A white vehicle approached and the suspects ordered the student to enter the vehicle. The suspects fled the scene in an easterly direction. The student was released a short distance away from the scene. The student sustained minor injuries.\n\nDPS asks your help in identifying the suspects if you were in the vicinity at the time of the incident.
