      "verbatimText": "The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is alerting the Syracuse University community to reduced air quality caused by regional wildfire smoke.\n\nAs of now, Syracuse's Air Quality Index (AQI) is 164 (Unhealthy) and is expected to rise to 235 (Very Unhealthy) for the remainder of the day. This is an increase in severity from yesterday's conditions.\n\nCurrent conditions (AQI 164 - Unhealthy):\n\nEveryone: Keep outdoor activities light and short. Go indoors if you have symptoms.\n\nSensitive groups - including those with heart or lung disease, older adults, children, and teens: Consider moving all activities indoors.\n\nAs conditions worsen toward Very Unhealthy (AQI 201-300):\n\nEveryone: Limit all outdoor physical activity. Go indoors if you have symptoms.\n\nSensitive groups: Avoid all outdoor physical activity.\n\nKeep windows and doors closed when possible. If you must be outside, consider wearing a surgical mask or an KN95 mask.\n\nDPS will continue monitoring conditions through AirNow.gov and will provide updates via our social media channels.\n\nIf you have any questions or concerns, please contact DPS at 315.443.2224.",
