      "verbatimText": "The Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Syracuse Police Department (SPD) are investigating a string of burglaries that have occurred recently in the surrounding off-campus neighborhood. The alleged burglars have entered properties through suspected unlocked windows and doors; we have not seen any incidents where forced entry has occurred.\n\nTo enhance your safety and protect your personal space and belongings, we recommend taking the following steps:\n\n• Lock all exterior doors and windows - even when you are home.\n\n• Report all suspicious people, activity, and behavior immediately.\n\n• Store valuable items, including the keys to your vehicle, in secure places and lock interior doors when you are out.\n\n• Record serial numbers of electronic equipment.\n\nIf anyone has any information regarding these incidents or others, please contact the SPD at 315.442.5222 or DPS at 315.443.2224. If you would like to anonymously report NON-EMERGENCY information to DPS, you can use the Silent Witness tool or the Rave Guardian app.\n\nIf you or someone you know has been affected by an incident on or near campus, please know that there are resources available to you.
