      "verbatimText": "TIMELY WARNING - AGGRAVATED BATTERY– NEAR THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS\n\nSubject: TIMELY WARNING - AGGRAVATED BATTERY– NEAR THE DOWNTOWN CAMPUS Date: May 15, 2026\n\nOccurrence Information:\n\nContent Warning: This notification includes information related to an aggravated battery.\n\nDate & Time: May 15, 2026, at 8:18 p.m.\n\nLocation: 219 Loyola Ave. (Bus stop in front of the N.O. public library)\n\nReported Offense: On Friday, May 15, 2026, at approximately 8:18 p.m. TUPD responded to a shooting that occurred at the bus stop in front of the public library near the downtown campus. The victim, a nonaffiliate, was transported to a local hospital. The suspect is believed to have fled down Tulane Ave. towards Claiborne Ave. The suspect is not known to law enforcement and is not in custody at this time. NOPD is investigating.\n\nSuspect's Description: The suspect is described as a black male with dreads, wearing a beige and white sweater with a dark colored backpack.\n\nINVESTIGATION ONGOING: If you have any information about these crimes, call TUPD at 504- 865-5381 or NOPD at 504-821-2222.\n\n*Descriptions provided by victim/witness.
