The victim asked him not to follow them and once\nin bathroom, the known male sexually assaulted them.\n\nThe Clery Act requires Tulane University to provide safety tips when issuing Crime\nAlerts. The following are suggestions relative to the criminal incident described in\nthis alert. In addition, the University encourages all members of our community to\nlook out for one another.\n\n • Respect the rights and boundaries of others.\n • Make sure that you have clear, affirmative consent before engaging in sexual\n activity.\n • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe and are able to do so, get to a safe place\n and call for help.\n • Be alert of your surroundings and the people around you.\n • The absence of the word “no” does not constitute consent. Make sure you have\n consent to sexual contact by asking your partner what they want to do. If your\n partner seems hesitant or unsure, it is time to stop.\n\nIf you have experienced sexual misconduct or think you may have experienced\nit, help is available. It is not your fault, and there are resources on campus and in\n\nthe community to provide support and help you heal. Help is available at Tulane,\nwhether a survivor wants to report an incident to the police, the university, a\nconfidential resource or just wants to talk to someone.\n\nA Note on Reporting:\n\nReporting sexual assault is a very sensitive and nuanced matter. Delayed reporting\nof sexual assault is very common. Tulane University encourages any victim of\nsexual assault or other crime to report, regardless of the time passed since the date\nof incident.\n\nWe at Tulane recognize that deciding to report sexual misconduct and choosing how\nto proceed are difficult decisions. We recognize that your feelings about whether to\nreport an incident and how to proceed may change over time. We support all\nsurvivors of sexual misconduct during this decision-making process.\n\nConfidential\nExcept in extreme circumstances, involving imminent danger to oneself or others,\nnothing shared with these resources will be shared without your explicit\npermission.\n the Counseling Center | (504) 314-2277\n The Line (24/7) | (504) 264-6074\n SAPHE peer hotline (24/7)| (504) 654-9543\n\nPrivate\nConversations with these resources are kept as confidential as possible, but\ninformation is shared with key staff members so the University can offer resources\nand accommodations and take action if necessary for safety reasons.\n Case Management & Victim Support Services | (504) 314-2160\n or srss@tulane.edu\n Title IX Coordinator | (504) 865-5611 or titleix@tulane.edu\n Student Affairs Professional On-Call (24/7) | (504) 920-9900\n\nFor more information about support options, including an interactive resources\nguide, visit: https://allin.tulane.edu/get-help.\n\nINVESTIGATION ONGOING:\nIf you have any information about these crimes, call TUPD at 504-865-5381 or\nNOPD at 504-821-2222.\n\n*Descriptions provided by victim/witness.
