      "verbatimText": "#UCFAlert Timely Warning: Crime Awareness Update\n\nThe UCF Police Department is notifying the community about four electric scooter thefts reported on the main campus in the past month.\n\nThe exact dates of the thefts are unknown, as they were not immediately reported to UCFPD. In two cases, the scooters’ locks were cut; the other two had been left unsecured. The scooters were taken from outside Towers 3 and 4 and a bike rack in Garage G.\n\nUCFPD is actively investigating these incidents and will continue its 24/7 patrol of UCF’s campuses and affiliated properties.\n\nWe ask that anyone with information call 407-823-5555 or 911 for an active emergency. You also can report information anonymously by calling CRIMELINE at 800-423-TIPS (8477) or leaving a tip online at crimeline.org.\n\nPREVENTION TIPS\nIf you park your scooter or bicycle on campus, always secure it at designated racks. Invest in a high-quality lock—such as a Ubolt lock—which is more resistant to cutting. Abandoned or unattended bikes and scooters are more likely to be targeted by thieves, so be sure to check on them regularly.\n\nUCFPD also encourages registering your scooter or bike through Parking Services or via UCFPD’s online property registration system. Registration helps law enforcement return recovered property to its rightful owner more efficiently.\n\nRemember: if you see something, say something – immediately and to police - so UCFPD can do something.\n\nRESOURCES\nIf you experience crime, violence, or abuse, UCF offers confidential support services at no cost.
