      "verbatimText": "Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:\n\nThe National Weather Service has issued anExtreme Heat Warningfor Central North Carolina from 12 p.m. today, July 3 through 8 p.m. tomorrow, July 4. An extreme heat warning means the temperature will be dangerously high. There will be a high temperature of 102 degrees Fahrenheit on July 3 and 104 degrees on July 4 with heat index values of up to 111 degrees.\n\nUse caution if you have outdoor plans. Stay hydrated and limit exposure during the hottest time of the day.Download theOSHA-NIOSH Heat Safety Toolsmartphone app to find out the specific conditions at your location.\n\nIf you or someone is experiencing any signs of heat-related illness, dial 911 immediately.Cool the affected individual right away with water or ice and stay with them until help arrives. Signs of heat-related illness may include:\n\n*   elevated body temperature\n*   rapid heart rate\n*   headache\n*   nausea\n*   weakness\n*   dizziness\n*   fainting\n*   muscle cramps\n*   seizures\n*   confusion\n*   slurred speech\n\nFor emergency air conditioner repairs on campus, call UNC Facilities Services Customer Service line at 919-962-3456. For any power outages on campus, contact UNC Police Dispatch at 919-962-8100.\n\nTips for staying cool\n\n*   Drink plenty of water even if you are not thirsty – at least 1 cup every 20 minutes\n*   Limit your time outdoors and take extra precautions if you do need to go outside\n*   Take breaks in a shady or cool location\n*   Dress in loose, light-colored clothing\n*   Avoid caffeine and alcohol as these contribute to dehydration\n*   Closely monitor yourself and those around you for signs of heat-related illness\n\nFor more information on extreme heat and how to stay safe, visit the heat-related websites ofUNC Environment, Health, and Safetyand theNational Weather Service.",
