      "verbatimText": "UW's Seattle campus is testing the UW Alert system today (Jan. 22), 1:22 p.m. to highlight how students, faculty and staff would be informed (and what to do) in the event of an active shooter attack on the campus. This is only a test.\n\nThe test includes a UW Alert message sent via text and email as well as a test of the UW's outdoor alert system (the blue towers located around campus).\n\nAlthough active threats are rare, it's important to take time to prepare for a situation in which your safety could depend on your ability to react quickly.\n\nLearn what to do before, during and after an active threat attack\n\nCheck out the UW Police Department active threat/shooter guide.\n\nMake sure you'll receive critical safety information\n\nIf you don't already receive UW Alert notifications, sign up now for text messages and email. You can list up to three cell numbers and five email addresses. If you've already signed up, make sure your contact information is current and that you've selected a campus for text messages (after you've logged into UW Alert, look for Groups in the top right corner).\n\nKnow how to get support\n\nWe understand that recent headlines and drills like this can be stressful for some. Support is available.\n\n- UW Counseling Center: Mental health care for currently enrolled students.\n\n- Husky Helpline: Available 24/7 for students. Call 206-616-7777 to talk with a licensed mental health counselor.\n\n- SafeCampus: If you or others experience concerning behaviors, call SafeCampus, no matter where you work or study, at 206-685-7233.
