Time: N/A - Location: Campus Wide Details: Several students have recently contacted Campus Safety regarding checks they received in the mail by a fraudulent company. The fraudulent company directs the unsuspecting students to deposit the checks into their bank account. The students are then directed to make purchases and wire the money back to the fraudulent company or purchase gift cards for the fraudulent company. Those students that deposit the checks soon realize they are fraudulent when the checks bounce. DEPARTMENT There are several varieties of these types of fraud going on around the globe. (714) 754-5252 Please do not fall victim to these types of scams. If you receive a fraudulent check or notice in the mail, contact the Postal Inspector at 877-876-2455. A Post Office Scam Alert will be attached to this Vanguard University emailed alert.
