NYU CAMPUS SAFETY ALERT: At approximately 7:40 PM on April 24, 2024, an NYU student was the target of an attempted robbery near the northeast entrance of Washington Square Park. The suspect called the student an obscene name, told the student to fight them, and then tried to take their backpack. After pulling back and forth on the backpack, the student regained their bag and headed to Weinstein Hall. The suspect is described as male-presenting, light complexion, approximately 5'6", mid-20s to early 30s, with shoulder-length blonde hair, wearing a baseball cap, T-shirt, and shorts.
