Timely Warning Notices and Emergency Notifications (ASR)

As circumstances allow the decision to distribute a timely warning notice will be based on the judgment of the President/Superintendent, Chief of Police, Lead Campus Safety Officer, Vice President of Instruction and Student Development, and/or Vice President Administrative Services in consultation with relevant campus staff.

Any of the following may be used to issue timely warnings about serious incidents on campus: emergency text message alerts, prominent postings on the Redwoods website, broadcast email and voicemail, and public address systems. Fliers and other informational materials may also be posted in other campus buildings to inform students, faculty, and staff of ongoing safety concerns.

The decision to distribute an emergency notification will be based on the judgment of the President/Superintendent, Police Chief, Lead Campus Safety Officer, and/or Vice Presidents in consultation with relevant campus staff.

• Named EN decision officers.

CRPD and/or other campus authorities become aware of a campus safety concern or potential problem, the CRPD, the Director of Facilities, and the Life Safety Committee will evaluate the issue and determine if it is a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees or the surrounding area.

• Local evaluation triad including Life Safety Committee.

Any alerts issued will be targeted to the campus involved to avoid making a broad alert notification and causing undue stress to those areas not affected by the situation.
