If Police Services determine a Timely Warning may be warranted, a select group of individuals will decide on if a Timely Warning is justified, what to include, and who to send it to. Individuals making this determination include the Director of Police Services, Vice President of Finance and Operations, Dean of Students, and the President of the College.

Issuing an Emergency Notification will be determined by Police Services, in consultation with others as necessary. Because of the need for immediate notification, the Director of Police Services or their designee will make the determination based on the information known at the time of notification. If time allows the Director of Police Services or their designee will consult with the Vice President for Finance and Operations, the President of the College, Dean of Students, and/or others in Emergency Response Services.

Emergency Notifications will be initiated and provided, without delay, immediate notifications to the appropriate segment(s) of the Evergreen community, once there is confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students, employees, or visitors. Emergency Notification may not be issued if issuing a notification will, in the judgment of emergency professionals, compromise the efforts to assist a victim or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency.

All Evergreen students and employees are encouraged to sign up to receive these alerts via text message at https://evergreen.omnilert.net/subscriber.php. Additional Emergency Notification avenues may include Evergreen email, loudspeaker on the Olympia campus, telephone services, banner on the Evergreen website, social media, local media, and/or in person communication.
