Reading the policy

Lewis and Clark Community College, an Illinois multi-campus community college, publishes a clear two-track notification framework in its 2025 Annual Security Report. Immediate emergency notifications for confirmed immediate threats are issued by Marketing and Public Relations under authority of the President, Vice President of Administration, Vice President of Academic Affairs, or designee, via text/voice/email and the emergency notification website. LC Alert auto-registers students at enrollment and employees at hire; community members and contractors can be managed manually. In a life-safety incident, the President, VP Administration, VP Academic Affairs, Director of Campus Operations, or designee may immediately initiate an emergency LC Alert. Timely Warnings (Crime Alerts) for ongoing or serious threats within Clery geography are judged by the Director of Campus Operations and typically written and distributed by the Vice President of Administration or designee as soon as pertinent information is available, usually via LC Alert and the college website. If emergency notification procedures are followed for an immediate threat, a Timely Warning for the same circumstances is not required, but adequate follow-up is.
