Immediate Threat Emergency Notification and Timely Warnings (ASR)

As per the requirements of the law, Assistant Vice President of Facilities Operations and Services, the Chief of NSCC Police, Lieutenant of NSCC Police, and/or the Executive Director of External and Public Relations will, without delay and taking into account the safety of the community, determine the content of the notification and initiate the notification system, unless issuing a notification will, in the judgment of the first responders (including, but not limited to: Campus, Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement, Fire and Emergency Medical Services), compromise the efforts to assist a victim or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency.

The emergency messaging system (RAVE ALERT), a service that allows College officials to reach all students, faculty and staff with time-sensitive information during unforeseen events or emergencies. The system uses voice, e-mail, and text messaging to broadcast pertinent information and, when appropriate, provide directions to those in the affected area(s).

Other crimes as determined necessary by the Chief of Police, or his or her designee in his or her absence. A timely warning notice will typically include the following, unless issuing any of this information would risk compromising law enforcement efforts: Date and time or timeframe of the incident; A brief description of the incident; Information that will promote safety and potentially aid in the prevention of similar crimes (crime prevention or safety tips).
