Wallace Alert brand and deliveryverbatim
The campus employs an emergency notification system commonly known as "Wallace Alert" to provide emergency warnings and follow up information to the campus community and the general public. Wallace Alert will ensure that this information is automatically delivered to any email address and by text message that is registered through the Wallace Alert system within moments of any such alerts being sent by the college.

There are certain college officials that have been granted authority by the College President to authorize emergency notifications. These officials are also referred to as Responsible Authorizers.

Authorizer confirm-approve-activate without delayverbatim
The Responsible Authorizer is to confirm that such a threat does exist and approve the wording and content of the message, taking into account pre-approved message templates, the nature of the impacted population on campus, and the actions the impacted population should take. Finally, the Responsible Authorizer is to direct that notification be provided through activation of Wallace Alert and/or the public address system, and the intercom system. These actions are to be taken without delay unless issuing a notification will, in the professional judgment of the Responsible Authorizer, compromise efforts to assist a victim or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency.

The decision to issue a Crime Alert is made by the Chief of Police or his designee, at times after consulting with The President.

Also, the Dothan campus utilizes an emergency notification system by means of a public address system. The public address system uses alert tones and approved messages that can be deployed throughout the campus in addition to activation of the Wallace Alert. On the Sparks campus, an intercom system is utilized to communicate emergency messages throughout the campus in addition to Wallace Alert.
