Named decision authority chainverbatim
In the event of an emergency, the Director of Campus Safety and Security is to be notified and will determine if an Emergency Notification is to be sent out. In the event of his absence, the Community and Media Relations department or the Chief of Human Resources will determine if a warning will be issued. IVC will without delay, consider the safety of the campus community, determine the content of the notification and determine how the notification will be issued. Unless the notification in their professional judgment, will compromise efforts to assist a victim or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate the emergency.

Timely warnings when an emergency notification is not issued but there is an ongoing threat that will aid in the prevention of similar crimes.

The page distinguishes emergency notifications (immediate threat) from timely warnings (ongoing threat / prevention of similar crimes) and states that emergency notifications supersede timely warnings.
Testing cadence
Director of Campus Safety and Security coordinates a semi-annual Emergency Notification System test for staff and an annual test for students via Regroup and/or website posting; tests need not be announced.
Scope & limits
